Used vacuum trucks

Vacuum trucks handle fluid recovery, tank cleaning, spill response and waste transfer across oilfield and industrial operations. They combine a tanker with a vacuum system, and both halves need assessing.

Specification

Tank capacity and material determine what the truck can carry and for how long between discharges. Vacuum pump type and capacity determine how fast it loads and what it can lift. Heated and insulated tanks matter for viscous products. Pressure-rated tanks allow pressure discharge, which speeds unloading substantially and is worth the premium on high-cycle work.

Inspection

Tank shell condition, internal corrosion and baffle integrity — as with any tanker, failed baffles make the vehicle dangerous under braking. Vacuum pump condition and output, tested rather than assumed: pump performance degrades gradually and a tired pump makes every job slower. Hoses, valves and fittings. Primary and secondary shut-off systems. Discharge arrangement.

Then certification: tank testing and, for hazardous product carriage, the relevant approvals and their dates.

Chassis

Assess the truck as a heavy vehicle. Vacuum trucks work loaded on poor access roads, which is hard on suspension, brakes and frame. Check frame condition around the tank mounting specifically.

Sourcing

Alberta's oilfield service fleet is a substantial source of well-maintained vacuum units with documented service and certification history — a channel we buy from directly, and one that regional supply does not match for documentation.
